Designed by Kent Lineberger, AIA, of Charlotte, NC and built by Matthew Collins and Paradigm Builders of Boone, it was created to reflect a 21st century mountain home with craftsmanship and materials indigenous and historically related to the Grandfather Mountain/Linville area.

Landscape design was a collaboration between the architect and John Byrd of Charlotte, NC. It was installed with minimal negative impact to the surrounding forest and creek. Plant specimens are typical of the Grandfather Mountain environment.

The entrance to the home is a covered stone walkway flanked by pillars with large sconces. It overlooks natural small cascading waterfalls and pools, and also leads to a stone entertainment area. The interior is accented by 11 inch Georgia old-growth pine plank flooring and gorgeous interior stonework. A large stone walk-in fireplace has a custom iron screen and tools crafted by Valle Crucis artist Mark Read. Handmade lighting fixtures throughout the home include an entrance lighting sculpture of a rhododendron by Penland artist Elizabeth Brim.

A large gourmet kitchen which opens to the family room has hand planed walnut cabinetry, stainless steel countertops and Sub Zero and Wolf appliances. Bedrooms are private, spacious suites with beautiful views and beautiful private baths.

Large windows bring exquisite views of the forest, stream and large boulders. The stone-decked entertainment area with built-in grill leads to a covered pavilion by Big Grassy Creek. The pavilion is accented by a stone fireplace and hand hewn log supports. All overlook the creek with its cascades and pools.

Additional features include an elevator, sauna, wine closet and wine cellar, and an exercise/entertainment area in lower level with finishes to match the rest of the house.
